Who the fuck runs this thing?

RAFI ABRAMOWITZ — Founder, CEO

Waddup bitches?

I’m an amateur playwright, a former improv comedian, a Rabbinical school dropout, a former business owner, a professional Hazzan, a Jewish educator, and a passionate defender of fostering a space that is inclusive, diverse, and brashly unfiltered.

I was born in Mexico City and was raised between New Jersey, Jerusalem, and London. My father was raised by a Conservative Rabbi, my mother grew up Reform, and I was brought up Modern Orthodox.

My unique background has gifted me an ability to understand American Judaism from within all the major denominations while also developing the text-study skills necessary to mine Judaism for endless creative inspiration. I founded No Filter: Judaism because I am hopelessly in love with Judaism, theatre, and comedy, and I wanted to create a space where all three are bound together.

PUMPKIN — ESA, President of Mischief

Hello friends!

I’m Rafi’s Emotional Support Animal! Rafi has complex PTSD, a disability marked by his body recognizing danger even when there isn’t any. It’s constant and presents as intense anxiety and physical symptoms resembling twitching and convulsions. These symptoms can be immensely unpleasant. My job is to keep Rafi present and grounded throughout the day.

I love to be petted, but please ask first. Sudden movement from strangers can be a little scary.

Also, give me peanut butter and cheese!

YOU

I post a video every Sunday which outlines the Jewish topic for the week. In those videos, I explore a character or story using the Rabbinic approach, the secular approach, or both. You’re invited to use that video as inspiration to write two pages of a play on the topic chosen. I host an hour-long online, recorded session every Wednesday night where I invite people from around the world to share their writing in an encouraging space. I will then post the session onto my YouTube page where it will be shared for all to enjoy!

It’s always free to join and watch on mute. For $18 you can have your pages read, participate in acting out the pages from other artists, and provide them with constructive feedback. For $36 dollars you can book a 30 minute private session with me, and for $72 you can book a full hour. If you’d like these sessions recorded and posted on my channel, that is included free of charge.

Nu? What are you waiting for? Take a leap of faith and let’s start writing!
